Weekend...

The baseline of the movie is the impact of a bomb blast in Train in Mumbai on the life of few Mumbaikaars, Paresh Rawal (Inspector Tikaram Patil), R.Madhavan (Nikhil Aggarwal), Soha Ali Khan (Rupali Joshi, News Reporter), Kay Kay Menon (Suresh) and Irfan Khan (Thomas, a Tamilian selling tea), apart from these lead actors Vijay Maurya (Sunil Kadam) played an excellent role. The movie is directed by Nishikant Kamat, the one who caught the attention of the audience through his debut Film Dombivalli Fast (Marathi).

The best line in the movie, to me, "rona aara hai not allowed.... police ka wardi pehen ke rona allowed nahi pissap kar pura paani bahar" (do you want to cry now, its not allowed in Police  uniform, if tears come piss off, all the water will be out) often repeated by Paresh Rawal in the film.

The story is well woven by the writers Yogesh Vinayak Joshi and Upendra Sidhaye with an excellent insight on the socio-psychological aspects of the modern life.

The movie excellently portrays the attitude of lower rung Police officials and the frustration caused due to their inability and how they vent the frustration. If one asks the road side vendors about the Policemen he would be having enough stories at the end of the conversation. My friend had a bitter experience of late night walk in the streets after which he never steps out of his home after 10 P.M.

The charm of the subaltern people towards the shopping malls and how they are treated/humiliated in the malls is a thought provoking scene as the existing disparity in income and the spending disparity will result in chaos if not treated then and there. An existing irony in that mall is the sales man who humiliates the Irfaan family don't have the buying power which hardly he understands thats the real face of our society. The scene where Irfaan rejoice after making hoax calls of bomb in mall is excellently thought off and shot, a man's revenge against his humiliation and the way he enjoys the revenge awesome! Irfaan's character's basic nature is not violent or aggression, the story clings to it and gives us that the basic nature can not be altered irrespective of how the society acts on him.

A Hindu fanatic, Suresh, who eyes every Muslim with suspicion and even goes in search of some Muslims with  the thought of they are responsible for the blasts, the director gives you enough room to believe that his thoughts are correct. His fanaticism is at threshold after the blasts, despite having a huge dues to be paid off he refuses a offer given by a Muslim. There are many such fanatics in the society.

The director lashes at the face of Media for their irresponsible mocking attitude from the beginning itself. His cirticism against the media is a valid one, the news channel where Rupali works make her grief a prime time show and makes business, a sms question in that is ' will Rupali become an unwed widow' if you say yes.... Everything has become business nowadays, the news channels are growing in numbers which results in the search of making someone's grief a good business, we could see how stupidly the reporters are shooting questions, they even did a live telecast of 26/11 NSG operations which costed the lifes of commandos. The government should bring a new legislation to regulate the news channels. Isn't it too absurd to ask a person who lost his family how do you feel?

Through Nikhil's US return friend the director says us the upcoming generation will be adapted towards the violence and bomb blasts, definitely its  what we are witnessing and the media never fails to bring news without any violence nowadays, its not the media fault alone, we too need such news to refer somewhere either to justify some actions or oppose.

Paresh Rawal's retirement speech is superbly played with the words a special credit goes to the dialogue writer. " During my childhood I had a great craze over spectacles as i had the thought that by wearing spectacle one could see far but only after wearing the spectacle I realised that to see far you need a different view" The entire speech is impressive.

I didn't understand why a security woman in the mall didn't help Irfaan family to board on the escalator she was simply standing is it the true nature of security in mall or the director missed that purposefully to make the scene more interesting, also, Thomas's wife, a Tamilian, wears nose ring on the left side of her nose but Tamilians wear it on the right side, might be the director is not aware about it.

While watching the movie if you run your thoughts with the intention of guessing what comes next with your acute cinema knowledge you would be fooled, the story has been excellently portrayed and the screenplay is well written. The movie is worth a watch, you have every genres touch in the movie, watch it and share your view.

REVOLUTION AWAITING.......

Election is an important characteristic of democracy, everyone of us are ensured a right to choose who is gonna rule us through elections, unfortunately nearly half of the eligible voters failed to express that right in the past but the turnout in the polling in the recently concluded Assembly elections 2011 in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry shows a different picture. 70+ % in all the three states is really unbelievable, people ply across boundaries of the state and district to caste their votes.

The huge turnout symbolises the untergang of the traditional politics and the dawn of new era. Beware politicians you are gonna face a new generation where if you fail to do your duty you will be ripped off  power. Bihar is a living example of what people expects from their representatives, the giants of Bihar politics Lalu Prasad Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan were thrown off the shores of politics they need more energy and perseverance to swim  in, which Nitish Kumar won't let happen. Lalu taught the people of Bihar the power of voting, now they used it against their own master when he failed to take care of them.  Now Politics will also become a serious occupation if the results didn't favour the ruling alliance, one can not live eating  all the public money for five years and go for the next election so easily with the freebies and with the expectation of cashing the votes, politicians have to spend more time with people's welfare if they want another term. A lot of ruling party MLAs in Tamil Nadu were not even allowed to enter into many places of their constituency, Ponmudi, Professional education Minister, too faced the same treatment in his area.

Nearly 10% of more people voted this time in Tamil Nadu which shows that whoever gonna win this election will be winning with a big margin. The election atmosphere in Tamil Nadu this time was too awful Vaiko was betrayed once again, enormous freebies announced no one asked how Government is going to pay for the freebies, plagiarism of election manifesto showed lack of trust on oneself and absence of creativity, stalwarts  switched their constituency out of the fear of loss, campaigning were done more by cine stars than the politicians, employment of all means to bribe the voters however, one should give credit for the innovating ways of bribing and cash transfer, all of a sudden Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) the ruling party announced its major opponent in the elections as Election Commission (EC) brushing aside Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK), the opposition party and its allies, Police were hand in hand in the transfer of funds yet one major thing that brought confidence in the present system and faith in the election process was vigorous measures took by EC to prevent all the malpractices of a normal election. DMK out of frustration did all the mean activities like fielding Vadivel, comedian Tamil cinema, as a major campaigner, if one says Vadivel's speech was indecent what would they call all the political leaders who were sharing the same dais I would call the dais as 'Pig Sty' sorry pigs for degrading you.

The positive aspect of this election are voting by youth, voting right for trans-genders, fair polling, no unfair incidents and the EC's introduction of video tapping the voters to prevent bogus votes. The next election might be more advanced, the EC might devise ideas to vote from where we are in the coming ages by that the polling will definitely cross 90%. The advancement of technology is definitely making the life more simpler.

On May 13 2011 after the results are out there will be hues and cries from the losers that the EC tampered the EVMs thats gonna bring a lot of fresh arguments against the employment of EVMs but neither the rulers nor the opponents is gonna back the inclusion of '49-O' in the EVM which affects their interest. As per the present system if one person doesn't like any of the fielded candidates he can opt for the '49-O clause' which means he expresses his dissatisfaction over the fielded candidates but there is no secrecy as he/she has to give all the details about him/her, so out of fear many express their dissatisfaction by voting some namesake contestants.  If the '49-O' is inserted into EVM then the face of real democracy could be seen. There is also a bunch of supporters fighting for the inclusion of the same might be for it we need a Anna Hazare and a perfect timing.

At this juncture I express my strong discontent about Manmohan Singh's (Prime Minister, India) action of not voting in the Assam Assembly elections where he has a vote, if the Nation's PM is not expressing the right to vote how one could ask the people of India to cast their vote. His act is a shame on Indian democracy. As usual he is silent on the issue

Why such a huge turn out in Tamil Nadu if you ask there pops up a lot of answers

  • Anna Hazare factor
  • Anti-incumbency
  • Announcement of paid holiday in the private sectors and the subsequent days are holidays
  • Anti Congress factor
  • Recurrent exposure of huge scams
  • Spread of messages through social networking sites
All the above points paid their part in changing the people's minds. So whats next? how will be the next Government? if DMK seizes the power will the M.Karunanidhi (MK) and family will change their nature? or if ADMK comes will the shoe fetish autocratic J.Jayalalitha (JJ) change her mindset ? if they didn't change what people is gonna do? will they let it happen again and again? the future is gonna answer but this is the right time for a revolution in politics the youth can boldly enter the arena and start working a third party having fresh mandates and hope for the people which could challenge JJ and MK regime. I am longing for such a change but have never took the initiative for such a change and most of the youth who want some change is like me that is why there is no change in the Indian politics.

Thanks to the Election Commission and its staff for conducting a free and fair election.

ANNA HAZARE

If you are here in search of a brief bio on Anna Hazare, sorry you are in an absolutely wrong place, I am not going to write anything about his life here. The recent 'fast unto death' by Anna turned out to be a huge success to democracy and Gandhian values at the time of their decline all around the world. At the same time it drew criticisms from some people by drawing lines between Irom Sharmila's fast for the last 10 years against Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) which went unnoticed and didn't even have empathy of the public and Anna's fast against corruption which drew stupendous support all over the nation. Criticisms are unavoidable but it should be fair whereas here the critics failed to understand the basic difference existed in the aforesaid fasts.

The issue handled by Anna has affected every Indian cutting across caste, religion, politics lines because corruption doesn't spare anybody in India and also the successive exposures of various corruption recently made the public to react but that is not the case with Irom Sharmila as her issue is confined only within Manipur and affected only the Manipur people. An irony in Irom Sharmila's case is that fellow Manipurians failed to back her.

People react only to those issues which affect them directly or if they have personal leanings over those issues. One can not expect the people to be altruistic to fight for all the evils in the society or World since that is not their nature. People remain passive when the genocides happen around them, hardly there occur demonstrations/protests against the genocides.

Gaza strip is facing the worst humanitarian crisis because of the various blockades enforced on it by the Israel but none of us are either aware about it or worried about it. Palestine is just an example there are numerous such heinous acts organized by the State or fundamentalists for which we never reacted. The recent genocide in Srilanka failed to create an uproar even among the fellow Tamilians in India forget about the support for Irom Sharmila.

Just think about the misery caused by tsunami in Japan, most of the sub continent drowned into the World cup fever and totally forgot about the kamikazes who were fighting with the reactors, thats what we are. Now after the Lokpal bill committee was formed we were into IPL. The biggest question ahead is will Anna receive the same support if he sit for an another fast when Government fails to live up to its words.

Can one blame the people alone for what they are? No, it is the social set up and the system enforced on them make them more submissive, people never think beyond the boundaries in which they are, only few do that,of them only few fight to get pass the boundary.

Why I started this blog?

I am not a good writer, also, I don't have a lot to say still I decided to go with this blog only because I have enough time but not enough way to kill it. Also, I am fed up with all social networking sites and reading others blogs so I decided to write my own blog.
I don't know how many people are going to read/follow this site, I pity you guys, still I won't give up writing here as I will be happy that I too have written something and live with a hope that some day the world will realise the worth of my writing. I am bored.
